Zambia trip April 2014

In April 2014 Pastor John and his wife Linda, and Pastor Richard and his wife Kim travelled to Zambia for the 2014 Path of Life Ministries Leader's conference. We had five main objectives for this trip:

It was a long trip and we all worked very hard, but at the same time it was extremely rewarding. This was the first time for Kim in Zambia and it had been several years since Linda had been there. Having the wives travel with us had a tremendous impact on how we were received by the women in the church. They greatly appreciated them coming out and were even more excited when they saw the gifts we had brought with us.

Overall the trip was extremely successful and below are some photographs and video to summarise the outcome. (Hover the mouse over a photograph to pause).

Path of Life Ministries Leaders Conference
This is the second annual conference of Path of Life Ministries that John and Richard have spoken at.

There were about 200 people present.

And here is Richard speaking about Jonah and the Whale.

Notice the perfect synchronization between Richard and Edward his interpreter.

What made this year's conference different was the presence of Linda and Kim. This was a real blessing to the women of the church.

This was not without your help.

Linda and Kim spent two full afternoons sorting through all the gifts everyone had kindly donated for this trip.

Here is the final result.

Of course they wanted to check the state of the kitchen.

Beacon of Hope School, Solwezi.
The second major goal of this trip was to visit the Beacon of Hope School.

This is the school that is sponsored by School4Kids

There are currently 30 of the original 50 children attending the school. There are many more who are waiting to join. Here are four children waiting patiently to be assessed.

Also, things we take for granted, such as washing hands, this is something the children had to be taught.

While we were visiting the school we also walked around the surrounding village. Here is a typical house that the children come from.

There is still much to do but this is a really encouraging start.

Let's continue to pray for the success of this wonderful project.

Pastor Evans' House
Onto our third topic; how well is Evans' House progressing?

The answer, very well indeed.

Chimwemwe 1 - Lampson and Margaret
Back in Lusaka we spent a morning visiting Lampson and Margaret at Chimwemwe 1. Unfortunately, there are no longer any children at the orphanage - they've all grown up and moved on. Lampson and Margaret are retiring and will be returning to their home in Kitwe later in the year.

This is most likely the last time we will see Lampson and Margaret.

Path of Life Ministries - Lusaka
Our final objective - to visit the church in Lusaka.

Pastor Joseph interprets for John as he shares the importance of growing up in God.

And Finally...
Not only did John and Richard receive new African shirts as a thank you for sharing at the conference, Linda and Kim also became African for a while.
