Zambia trip October 2013

In October 2013 Pastor John,Pastor Richard and Dave Summerhill travelled to Zambia to meet with Pastor Evans Luwi and also the church in Lusaka. We had four main goals for this trip:

The trip was extremely successful and below are some photographs and video to summarise the outcome. (Hover the mouse over a photograph to pause). For Dave's Powerpoint presentation covering both Evans' house build and School4kids - click here.

Objective 1:Evans' House
Our first task was to check how Evans was getting on with the building of his house and for Dave to provide Evans with advice and support to ensure the work is completed on time, to proper specification and to budget.

Objective 2: Beacon of Hope School, Solwezi.
While we were with Evans we talked through many of the details of setting up the school as part of the School4Kids project. We now have 50 children lined up to attend. We have the building, two teachers and will be purchasing the resources for running the school over the next few weeks with the view to having the school up and running by January 2014

Objective 3: Path of Life Ministry Conference.
Whilst not in the original plan, it was great to be able to speak at the Path of Life Ministry conference. However, it was here that we experienced once again the African time keeping. Here we are 15 minuts AFTER the conference was supposed to have started. This is quite normal for meetings in Africa

Objective 3: Path of Life Ministry Conference.
This is John teaching from Robby Dawkins book, and in particular the girl who was told by God to go and do a handstand in front of the shop keeper. Translating "handstand" proved to be a challenge in itself.

Richard thanked God that we were able to find someone in the congregation who could do a handstand - otherwise it would have been him!!

Objective 4: Ordination Service
The other big surprise for us was being asked to set in a number of new elders into the Lusaka church.

This was to be a truly BIG event

Objective 4: Ordination Service
Several very important people had been invited, including the deputy commissioner for the region and the former ambassador to Libya.

Objective 4: Ordination Service
This is Joseph, the lead elder, and his wife ready to be ordained.

Objective 4: Ordination Service
Part of the ordination service involved the process of "washing feet" in the same way Jesus did for his disciples.

In fact John did this for all the elders who were being set in that day.

Objective 4: Ordination Service
We concluded by affirming Evans role as Senior Pastor of Path of Life Ministries.

Goodbye British Airways
School Children saying goodbye to the last British Airways flight into Lusaka.

They also gave us a good hose down, as we taxied on the runway passed the fire engines!!!
